They took a big leap and in less than a year Ecosan went from nothing to a £100,000 business. Chris Price from Kent Business came and interviewed Sonja regarding Ecosan’s success. A whole page dedicated to Sonja Wood and Ecosan was printed in the Kent Business pull out and the article received many hits online.

Ecosan have been working with Business Flow, a local SME in order to achieve their first accreditation and are now ISO 14001 accredited for their Environmental Management systems through BSI.

This means that all their systems have been audited and managed to ensure a continuity throughout every aspect of the business. They are now starting their ISO18001 which is a Health and Safety accreditation to maintain their high standards of work and service.

New extension being built by Eco builders Ecolibrium

New extensionEcosan are currently having an extension built by Eco builders Ecolibrium, a Kent based company. This company tick all the green boxes and this is why Ecosan chose them to carry out the works, they have also worked on sustainable projects including the tv programme Grand Designs.

Due to the Company’s success and the recruitment of new staff they are bursting at the seams and so need more office space. Sonja Wood commented that the only way is up! The offices will now be doubled in size to accommodate the new staff.

EcoSan drives a green open Championship

EcoSan provided eco-friendly washroom services for the 2011 Open Championship at Royal St George’s, Sandwich, hosting 200,000 visitors from around the world. The Club is a highly-acclaimed international golfing destination.

Sonja Wood, Director of EcoSan was delighted to support Royal St George’s over the four-day event and believes this was not just a one-off success story.

“We’ve been supporting Royal St George’s with washroom services for a number of years. The Club has a distinguished golfing history and when thousands of people visit it’s essential that high standards of hygiene are maintained. We service a number of other visitor destinations in Kent which also value our commitment to providing eco-friendly services, guaranteeing a smooth-running event.”

Having recently won the prestigious ‘Business Commitment to the Environment’ award, EcoSan is keen to spread its green values further and plan to launch their latest innovative idea to recycle chewing gum, details will be up on the website shorly.

Environment award-winning EcoSan

EcoSan Services are 2011 winners of KEiBA’s prestigious ‘Business Commitment to the Environment’ award.

Established in 2007 by husband and wife team Carl and Sonja Wood, EcoSan have worked hard to gain recognition for their eco-friendly washroom solutions for businesses in every sector.

EcoSan was the first Kent-based company to offer sanitary, nappy and incontinence recycling, working with the UK’s premier recycling centre for nappies. Today, we divert 98% of all sanitary and nappy waste from landfill.

Competitors either landfill nappies, which take 500 years to breakdown, or incinerate them. We do neither.

Carl Wood said: “We’re passionate about the environment and source greener solutions wherever possible, helping our customers and partners get the best from our services without it costing the Earth! We’re delighted to have received this award.”
