Company

Who are EcoSan Services?

EcoSan is a Kent-based, family run business, established in 2007 offering eco-friendly washroom solutions to businesses in every sector.

How would you describe the business?

We’re passionate about the environment and source greener solutions wherever possible, helping our customers and partners get the best from our services without it costing the Earth!

Who founded EcoSan Services?

Ecosan was founded by Carl and Sonja Wood, a husband and wife team, in 2007. Carl and Sonja have combined industry experience of over 30 years gained in market leaders and successful independents.

Service

What services do you offer?

EcoSan can tailor any washroom service to fit – ranging from sanitary and nappy disposal to matting and sanitisers. By being bespoke our customers only pay for what they need.

What about your quality standards?

We pride ourselves on never having lost a client due to poor service – our business retention rate is 98%. Staff are friendly and conscientious and take pride in what they do. Good performance is rewarded. Our philosophy is “the answer is “Yes”, now what’s the question?”

What are the benefits of your service?

We respond within 48 hours to any service call out. The same dedicated service person looks after the same customers to help to build a personal business relationship. This means for each customer, our team know where equipment is located and any relevant site regulations so they don’t have to waste their time showing a different person round every time, which is often the case with larger companies. We also try to provide one person to service all our kit at the same time. This means the customer knows everything has been done efficiently, saving us fuel costs and manpower hours which we pass on in the form of lower charges.

How do you monitor standards?

Our staff are regularly trained and we implement random spot checks to make sure our high standards are maintained. Sonja or Carl also visit customers to make sure they are happy with all the services EcoSan provide. Our vehicles are fitted with tracker systems so we can monitor how long they are on site. Customers are asked to sign when the work is complete to confirm that they are satisfied.

Which contracts have you won recently?

We have recently won the YMCA, Passion Pictures, Trinity School, National Grid and Watermans to name a few.

Competition

How are you different from your competitors?

We stand out from our competitors because we are the only southern-based company that can recycle 98% of all sanitary, nappy and incontinence waste. All our competitors either landfill or incinerate. We provide, wherever possible, one person to carry out all the services. We recycle all the various waste stream generated from the service, e.g. aerosol cans. We support local charities, our main one being Demelza Hospice Care for Children, where we provide all the services free of charge. We do not charge a waste transfer fee or have any hidden costs.

Why should we consider EcoSan Services?

We can help you to green your washrooms and thus reduce your carbon footprint. In the UK, more than 1 million tonnes of absorbent hygiene products ‘AHP’ waste is generated annually, much of which is landfilled, a significant amount of which is produced by the commercial sector; we can help stop that happening. We can help reduce your carbon footprint and save you money without compromising on service.

Costs/Pricing

How competitive are your costs?

We can usually save our clients at least 10% on their current contract.

How do you deliver value for money?

Because we optimise our employees’ time we can be cost competitive so the customer receives an excellent service. Also, because recycling the waste is slightly cheaper than the usual methods, everyone’s a winner.

100% sustainable/environment

What is your commitment to the environment?

We operate a strict green policy and are continually looking to find alternative solutions on every product. Our commitment is 100%; we’ve won an award for our business commitment to the environment.

Is going green business friendly?

Going green is sometimes assumed to be more expensive. By offering greener products and recycling we save money which we pass onto our clients.

Reputation

Have you been in the press?

We received a lot of media attention and press coverage when we won the ‘Business Commitment to the Environment’ awards 2011. We are also featured in a new Eco magazine published in September. We featured on BBC’s Seaside rescue with Duncan Bannatyne helping in the washrooms to makeover a The Boating Pool in Kent.
